Fire Damaged Machine Back in Production

At the beginning of the month CTM installed the latest machine rebuild for a customer in the South of England. Originally the machine was a Cannon A-System 60 which was severely damaged in a fire at our customers factory.

As can be seen from the image to the left the machine was damaged beyond economic repair. This was mainly due to soot formations caused erosion on bare metal and electrical components were shorted.

We were concerned that our customer would be losing money while they were out of production. To ensure their profits were unaffected, CTM supplied a loan machine while their metering unit was being repaired.

The finished machine included a control system which was designed by CTM specifically for our customers needs, this included the automatic adjustment of ratio using an HMI and 'closed-loop' technology.

END OF 2009 BUSY FOR CTM (Source:Urethanes Technology, April/May '10)

During 2009, Barnsley, UK-based CTM Equipment Ltd saw Trelleborg successfully making the world's largest bend stiffeners using its bespoke design. CTM's 15-machine deal for Cannon in 2009 came about as a UK-based water boiler manufacturer switched from a centralised plant to 15 regional centres, each requiring a PU production cell.

Shane Wootton, managing director, said the latter part of 2009 was busy: CTM converted five CTM GSPU (glass syntactic PU) metering units - to PU elastomer for projects for the offshore sector.

CTM also moved to new, larger premises in December 2009. Wootton noted that it has "excellent bank backing (Lloyds Banking Group) who "provided funding for the purchase of this new facility whist maintaining levels of trading overdraft facilities."

UK MANUFACTURER STIFFENS UP COMPETITION WITH THE WORLDS LARGEST PU MACHINE

CTM (UK) LTD, the UK agent for Cannon Polyurethane has successfully developed the world’s largest (PU) dispensing machine for use in the offshore industry.

CTMs EL2000 dispensing machine produced its first record breaking bend stiffener in July ‘09 using a total PU volume of 5,360 litres/ 1,416 gallons. The 2,000kg per minute machine incorporates a state-of-the-art control system designed to effectively monitor and evaluate performance in-shot.

Shane Wootton, Managing Director at CTM explains “with our integrated data capture system we enabled our customer to run extensive testing to ensure that the supply chain provides excellence right through to the end user”.

CTM produce custom built machinery to suit applications including the offshore and sub-sea industries, with particular experience with filled syntactic foam and polyurethane elastomers. In addition they act as the UK agent for Cannon Polyurethane, and provide a range of solutions for all PU applications.
