Today there are many concerns over the environment and the ever-changing regulations regarding blowing agent issues.  Cannon is aware of these concerns and offers two solutions to assist the customer in adhering to the latest regulations.

The A-Penta and A-Penta Twin models can be prepared for use with hydrocarbon blowing agents, such as cyclopentane and n-pentane.  These hydrocarbons have replaced CFC-based blowing agents in certain applications because chlorofluorocarbons are considered dangerous to the environment.

Penta models that are to be used with hydrocarbon blowing agents also are equipped with additional safety features, including:  fire-safe shut-off valves; drip basins; special seals; a ventilated enclosure for the polyol-hydrocarbon mixture; and connections for a nitrogen supply to pressurize the day tanks.                  

A separate Hydrocarbon Monitoring system with alarm panel, flammable vapor detection sensors, ventilation fans and a chiller to supply cooling water for hydraulic and chemical temperature control can be supplied upon request.

Their main features are:

• the user can define his own machine configuration, to balance performance against economics;
• a machine operator interface with very precise control and rapid programming of process parameters;
• an easier machine maintenance, due to the open-frame design and easy access to replaceable items;
• a corrosion-proof treatment of the metering pumps, ideal for water-based formulations;
• the forced lubrication of the Isocyanate seal housing to increase the life of the gaskets;
• a magnetic coupling can be fitted to eliminate seals and reduce to a minimum the maintenance;
• a wide range of options are available for the component's output settings : from a simple manual adjustment (by means of a calibrated hand-wheel) through to sophisticated "closed-loop" adjustment;
• software packages, to control planned maintenance and fault finding data, offering invaluable assistance to maintenance staff;
• software packages for quality and production control, leading to a reduction in operating costs;
• on-line programming to modify process parameters during machine operation.

Metering Module

• high-pressure, axial piston pumps, available in different sizes: 12, 28, 55 and 107 cc/rpm;
• setting output can be:
  • manual
  • selected by means of pneumatic actuator
  • with flexible adjusting system
  • with "closed loop" adjustment
• lower vibration level and lower noise;
• forced lubrication seal on Isocyanate side;
• constant monitoring of process parameters;
• highly-reliable coupling system, mechanical or magnetic.

 Temperature and Control Module

• availability of various solutions;
• nest-tube heat exchangers with or without heating elements;
• low-pressure recycle pumping group available;
• chiller unit available.

 Tanks Module 

• availability of different tanks sizes;
• pressurisation and insulation;
• with or without water jacket;
